MetroPCS adds throttling to LTE plans, raises price of unlimited service

The country's fifth-largest carrier and one of the few with an active LTE network, MetroPCS, has revealed that it is adding data speed throttling to three of its 4G LTE plans. The new throttling will kick in after 250MB, 2.5GB, or 5GB of usage depending on the plan, and will limit users to 3G-like speeds, though the actual throttled speed was not specifically defined. This practice is similar to the data speed throttling that T-Mobile adopted a while back. Additionally, MetroPCS is raising the price of its plan with unlimited 4G LTE data from $60 per month to $70 per month. The unlimited plan is exempt from any speed throttling.
