BlackBerry Curve 9220 launches in India as an entry-level smartphone

BlackBerry Curve 9220

RIM unveiled a new BlackBerry device in India – Curve 9220, which will also find its way to the other markets in the coming weeks. Specs wise, the new BlackBerry sports a 2.44-inch QVGA screen, 2-megapixel camera, EDGE data, Wi-Fi, 512MB of RAM, microSD card slot, and a 1,450 mAh battery that is good to keep you talking for 7 hours or listen to music for 28 hours. Of course, you’ll also get to access the BBM service and keep up with your contacts while on the go.

The price is set at Rs. 10,990, which translates into some $211. If you grab the BlackBerry Curve 9220 before June 30, RIM will also bundle a selection of apps worth 2,500 rupees.

Sounds like a good deal for the emerging markets of the world presuming users there want a BlackBerry device rather than some Android-powered one, which can be even cheaper…
