Instagram for Android notches 1 million downloads in less than a day

The anticipation for the long-awaited Instagram for Android app was certainly high, as the app has notched over 1 million downloads from the Google Play Store in less than 24 hours from its release. Before its official release, Instagram for Android saw over 430,000 people sign up for pre-registration on Instagram's website. Once available, new accounts were added to the service at the rate of 2,000 per minute.
